My Year of Reading

If you’re like me, you are probably freaking out that 2018 is just around the corner. I don’t know why I am surprised at the end of each year that a new one is coming, yet here we are. This year has had some big highs and even bigger lows, but when it comes to books things weren’t so bad.

I reached my goal of reading 52 books this year (a book a week) and am currently sitting on 57! I don’t know if I will get to finish three books between here and the new year, but you have to have a dream.

I thought I would do a little summary of my literary efforts of 2017 before later talking about my reading goals for 2018.

This year I read 16 books by women and 10 by women of colour, making the grand total of 26 books written by women.

23 books were written by men and five by men of colour, which equals 28 books written by men.

Only six books got a 2 star or under rating from me. Can you guess which ones?

Eight books were borrowed from my local library.

Six books were audiobooks from Audible.

Six were gifted to me by some wonderful friends.

Three were collections of poetry.

Five were books on literary theory.

And 16 books have appeared in one of my reviews here!

What a year!

Are you happy with your reading efforts this year? What were your highlights of 2017? As always, share the reading love.
