Welcome to my new series on my blog called Monthly Favourites. I felt inspired to do this because there is so much more to me than books and I wanted to share some of that with my readers. So each month as an added bonus to your regular book reviews and bookish discussions you are going to see what my favourite song, T.V./movie, beauty product, and stationery product of the month!

Favourite T.V./Movie

Since I got Netflix, I basically don’t watch regular T.V. anymore. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? My favourite way to while away the evenings this May was to watch the first season of Dead to Me. It stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. It is part thriller part extremely dark comedy and I was hooked from the first episode. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because literally everything is a cliff hanger. The ending of the season has me craving for season two already.

Favourite Song

I have a Bachelor of Music in classical singing. I have played piano since I was a child and also love the guitar. I’ve been performing music almost all my life so when I listen to music, it is an active choice not background noise. I love a variety of music and even though I studied classically, some of my favourite bands might surprise you. My favourite song of May has been “When Am I Gonna Lose You” by Local Natives. I love the multi-layered dimensions of this song and how the melancholy mixes so bitter-sweetly with the up-beat percussion.

Favourite Beauty

I wanted to to be fairly generic with this category. I wanted it to be anything from make up, to skin or hair care, to perfumes. With that said, my favourite for May is a perfume from the French brand Le Couvent. They are a 100% vegan perfume line using natural perfumes for their products. I bought a perfume in the scent Tinharé which has mandarin and vanilla notes. I love how this smells and have been a bit obsessed with it since I got it. The bottle is also really beautiful.

Favourite Stationery

The chances are that if you love books you are also obsessed with stationery and notebooks. I have extremely strong opinions about pen qualities and paper thickness. I am also extremely protective of who can use my pens (just ask my husband). For this month though, the highlight has to be my new Apple Pencil. It is hands down the most expensive pen I have ever purchased, but I love it! Thanks to this pen, I have gotten into drawing again and the images from my Monthly Favourites are thanks to the Apple Pencil.
