There has been a bit of radio silence from my blog and I’m sorry that I haven’t been keeping up with all the posts I would like. The silence hasn’t been from reading too little, rather it is from reading (and writing) too much. My Master’s thesis is taking up a lot of head space. I spend many hours awake having theoretical debates in my head about feminism and heterotopias… you know, all the fun things.
To try to switch my brain off, I have been taking advantage of the good weather (which doesn’t always stick around here in Switzerland) and going off on hikes, runs, and walks.
Switzerland celebrated its National Day on the 1st of August this year. I thought there is nothing more Swiss than going hiking and eating a sausage or two. My husband and I went from Zug to Unteraergeri.
Along the way we got to see some pretty amazing views as well as some little libraries along the way. I’ve never actually seen this sort of thing in Switzerland before and I’m pretty excited to see that little libraries are springing up all over the world!
The idea of these little libraries is “Take a book, Bring a book”. Whilst I didn’t have any books to exchange, I love the idea of recycling books and giving them to new homes rather than simply throwing them away.
Next time you are in Unteraergeri, remember to bring along your old books.
Do you have any little libraries near you? Send me your pics and where you found them! You know I love books!
